New features, improvements, and fixes as Wayfilm ships them, newest first.
Next to By car there is now By plane. Pick it and the map becomes a globe with a satellite view, and your trip plays as one smooth flight arc between your places. Perfect for trips no road can make, like crossing an ocean: when a drive is impossible, the editor now offers to film it as a flight instead.
Choosing By plane now turns the map into the globe right away instead of waiting until you draw the route, and switching back to By car brings back the flat map. Converting a route you already drew no longer starts the film on its own either: press Play film whenever you are ready.
Start over is now a Clear button sitting right below Draw route. It empties the route and all the inputs, and it stays grayed out when there is nothing to clear.
The editor no longer opens on a blank page while the map engine loads. A world map is part of the page itself now, drawn at exactly the same position and scale as the real map, which then appears seamlessly on top of it with all its detail.
Place labels used to trail the map by a few seconds: they came from a slow third-party server, and showing every name in its local script meant downloading megabytes of glyphs. Label fonts now ship with Wayfilm itself and labels show English names, so the map arrives whole, and it stays readable wherever your trip goes.
Place search no longer shows the same suggestion twice. And long films now load the map for the whole trip before playing, so the later parts of a route no longer show blank patches.
Signed in, the account menu now has a Your stats page: films created, total distance filmed, cities visited, and your favorite map style. One click exports it as an image sized for sharing, following the same watermark rules as your videos.
Account details, the Pro watermark toggle, your miles/kilometers preference, and account deletion now live together on a Settings page. The account menu is simpler for it, and the changelog, status, terms, and privacy pages moved to the footer where they belong.
Before a film plays, Wayfilm now loads the whole map along your route. Long trips like San Francisco to New York play over a complete map instead of blank patches racing the camera. Very long routes also fly a bit higher, so the world reads better at speed.
Switching tabs used to pause a video export until you came back. Exports now keep rendering in the background — start one, go do something else, and the download is waiting for you.
Exported videos can now show the trip distance and driving time in the corner, in miles or kilometers — your choice. It is on by default and you can turn it off in the export panel.
Wayfilm now opens (and resets) on a view of the whole world instead of one zoomed-in region, and the editor controls appear right away instead of a beat after the map. Place suggestions also drop down over the map now instead of being stuck inside the panel.
Wayfilm no longer autoplays an example film when you arrive. Every visit starts fresh: an empty map, empty inputs, ready for your own route. Shared film links still play, because that is what they are for.
wayfilm.app/status now shows the live health of everything a film depends on: place search, route calculation, map tiles, and accounts. When something breaks, error messages in the editor point you there.
Place search says so when it is down instead of going quiet, routing outages no longer wipe the route you already drew, trips that cross an ocean explain that flight mode is on the roadmap, and phones that cannot encode video get a clear notice instead of a failed export. The editor also fits small screens properly and works better with keyboards and screen readers.
Saved films now have a Share button: anyone with the link watches your route as a film at wayfilm.app/p/…, no account needed, and pasting the link into a chat shows a card with your actual route drawn on it.
Below the editor you will now find real example videos, pricing, and answers to common questions, including how rendering on your own device keeps your videos private.
Your name in the top bar now opens a menu with sign out and account deletion, the Wayfilm logo (or the new Start over button) clears the editor for a fresh route, and the changelog, terms, and privacy pages you are reading went live.
The trip summary now has a mi/km toggle. It starts from your locale and remembers your choice, and the map scale follows along.
The map no longer repeats itself when you zoom way out. Past the edge of the world you get ocean, not a hall of mirrors, and exports stay inside a single world too.
When there is no drivable route (say, an ocean in the way), Wayfilm now says exactly that instead of a generic failure.
Premium map styles (Satellite, Dark Cinema, Vintage, Minimal), custom route colors, unlimited stops, watermark-free exports, and 1080p/4K video. Founder pricing is grandfathered forever.
Routes are no longer just A to B. Add stops in between and the film visits each one in order.
