Questions, answered

What is Wayfilm?

Type where a trip starts and ends, and Wayfilm turns the route into a cinematic map film: an animated camera flight along your journey that you can export as a video and share anywhere.

Is Wayfilm free?

Yes. The editor is free with no account needed, and free exports are 720p with a small watermark. Wayfilm Pro removes the watermark and unlocks 1080p and 4K, premium map styles, the 1:1 square format, unlimited waypoints, and custom route colors.

What happens to my routes and videos? Is this private?

Your film renders on YOUR device. The video is encoded right in your browser and is never uploaded to us. There is no server-side rendering and nothing for us to keep. We only store a route if you choose to save or share a film, and shared films show exactly the route you chose to publish.

What can I make with it?

Travel recaps and trip intros for vlogs, animated route maps for video essays and documentaries, and films of running or cycling routes for training logs and stories. Films export in 16:9, vertical 9:16, and (with Pro) 1:1 square.

Do I need an account?

No. You can build routes, play films, and use your first export without an account. Signing in with Google lets you save your film and come back to it, and is required for Pro.
